A heat resistant Fuchsia, ‘Sundancer’ is a summer flowering shrub growing to 2m with flowers lasting for several months. Reasonably high nutrient needs at planting into the garden in a well-draining garden bed. In containers, ‘Sundancer’ need a
pinch at planting and no further pruning, except to shape. Recommended to plant out in the garden during Spring and Summers.
Fuchsia ‘Sundancer’is a strong shrub growing to around 2 metres high with a width of 1.5 metres.
The plants perform very well right through summer, always in bloom. In the garden mulching is beneficial and keeping the garden evenly moist important. The root system is wide spread and quite deep giving the plant good protection from the heat. Light pruning is best done as the plant grows just to shape the plant. Fertiliser is important either liquid or slow release at regular intervals.
Plants of Fuchsia magellanicaare native to Argentina and Chile where they grow in the foothills of the Andes. Under Fuchsia hybrid naming, the cross breeding is generally with Fuchsia fulgens. Fuchsia hybrida ‘Sundancer’ was bred in Japan where it was selected from seedlings bred, selected and planted at the station.
